Building Notes
In 1895, the first floor storefronts of the Hotel Saint Nicholas #2 stretched from 1602-1644 Market Street. The lessees included: H. Sanders and Company, men's and women's furnishing goods (1602 Market); The Aquatic Saloon operated by J.B. Muirhead (1604); The Palace of Trade gloves and millinery owned by H. Metz (1608); B. Friedlander and Company, Tailors (1610); John Quandt and Company, painters and importers of shades, wallpapers and moldings (1614-1618); The Chicago Clock Company, merchants of furniture, carpets, upholstery, curtains, ranges and household items (1622-1624); Tamm and Nolan Company, makers of varnishes and Japan finishes (1040); L. Kuttner and Company, scientific opticians and Kuttner Brothers, job printers (1044).
