Overview

The Royal House was in operation in 1900. Its listing in the San Francisco City Directory said of it: "F.L. Turpin, proprietor, rooms per night 35 cents to $1.50, week $1.75 to $7, month $7 to $30, metallic Fire escapes front and rear, office and elevator on ground floor, baths, ladies' parlor and reading room, 126 Ellis, tel. Main 1535." (See Crocker-Langley Directory of San Francisco, California, 1900, p. 1495.)

Demolition

The Royal House perished in the Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 04/18-19/1906. Another seven-story building was erected at 120 Ellis Street in 1909.
