Overview
Los Angeles architect Norman Foote Marsh (1871-1955) designed this second church for the Jewell Memorial Methodist Episcopal congregation in Colton, CA, after the first building was destroyed by fire in 1912.
Building History
The San Bernardino Sun reported in its issue of 09/07/1913: "Building operations on the new Methodist Episcopal church at Eighth and G streets are progressing rapidly, several men being employed. The basement, which to be built of concrete to the surface when brick will be substituted is well under way. The church people decided to place the building under the supervision of Walter Campbell and E.E. Ward, contractors and skilled carpenters and did not advertise for bids on the plans which were drawn by Norman Marsh, the Los Angeles architect." (See "Work Starts for Methodist Church: Foundation of New Jewell Memorial Edifice Are Under Way," San Bernardino Sun, vol. XXXIX, no. 6, 09/07/1913, section 2, p. 1.)
