Overview

Japanese-American businessman H. Iwata had many business interests c. 1913. He operated a real estate, loans and insurance business, dealt in jewelry, phonographs and records, and managed the Iwata Opera House, a vaudeville and motion picture theatre for Japanese-American audiences. The second floor of this building housed the Hotel Fresno. (See Fresno, California, City Directory, 1913, p. 6.) His real estate and jewelry businesses were located in Rooms #47-48 of the Iwata Building, next door to the Opera House at 911 F Street.
