Overview

The San Francisco lawyer John H. Painter built this modern, post-and-beam residence in rural Ross, CA, for himself and his wife, Elizabeth C. Painter, in the 1950s. In 1962, Painter had a legal office at 220 Bush Street in San Francisco, CA. (See San Rafael, California, City Directory, 1962, p. 424.)
