Overview
This building housed the Auburn Herald newspaper, first published on 09/11/1852, making it one of the oldest continuously published newspapers in CA. The newspaper was first housed in a wood-frame building nearby in the Old Town section of Auburn, CA.
Demolition
This newspaper office was demolished in the 1950s to provide space for the Maple Street exit of Highway 40. (See Art Sommers, Auburn [Charleston, SC: Arcadia Publishing, 2008], np.)
