Overview

In 03/1937, theSouthwest Building and Contractorindicated in a building notice that architect Clifford A. Balch (1880-1963) was drawing up plans for remodeling a building at 417-419 North Fairfax into a theatre to be called the "Esquire." Balch was a prolific designer of movie theatres during the 1920s and 1930s. (See "Theatre Building," Southwest Building and Contractor,03/05/1937, p. 52, col. 2.)
