Overview
The German Savings and Loan Society incorporated on 02/10/1868, and had its first banking office at 513 California Street. C. F. Mebius was the president in 1868. By 1879, the German Savings and Loan Society was one of three serving specific Euro-American ethnic groups. The others included the French Savings and Loan Society and the Hibernian Savings and Loan Society.
