Overview
The firm of Swayne and Van Trees was one of nine architectural firms competing for the design of the Mutual Savings Bank of San Francisco Headquarters commission in 1900. Its design was one of two awarded a prize for excellence, although it was not selected. Albert Pissis (1852-1914) of San Francisco received the other cash prize, while the firm of William Curlett (1846-1914) won the competition.
