Overview
The Baker and Hamilton Company, one of San Francisco's important early merchants in hardware and agricultural implements, had two stores in the city in 1879, one in the Yankee Building on Front Street and this one at 109-111 Pine Street. (See San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1879, p. 935.)
Building Notes
In about 1890, Baker and Hamilton were the Pacific Coast agents for Bain Wagons, Gale Chilled Plows, Star Moline Plows, Tiger Mowers, Peerless Combined Mowers and Reapers and Single-Wheel Reapers, Tiger and Hollingsworth-Tiger Rakes, Climax and Stoddard Disc Harrows, Pitts Traction Engines and Threshers, and Hiram Davis Buggies. They manufactured Benicia Mowers, Benicia Headers, Benicia Spring Wagons and Carts, and Eureka, Granger, Perfect and Reversible Mould Plows.
