Overview
The 1st Baptist Church congregation was the first Protestant denomination to erect a house of worship in San Francisco, in 1849. This brick church replaced a wood-frame building on the same site, on Washington Street between Dupont and Stockton Streets.
Building Notes
The 1st Baptist Church #1 in San Francisco was in operation by at least 08/03/1860. The San Francisco Ladies' Protection and Relief Society met at the church the previous evening to discuss disposition of the various donations that had been made to the society since the 1850s.
