Wood's Opera House had one of the first telephones installed in Los Angeles by 03/1878. A notice appeared in Los Angeles Herald that said:
"Have you seen a telephone? If not do so at Wood's Opera House." (See "Local Brevities," Los Angeles Herald, vol. 9, no. 98, 03/22/1878, p. 3.)
