The National Park Service has said of the Ruiz House, also known as the Casa de Carillo, which became incorporated into the Presidio Hill Golf Course, Caddy House: "The present caddy house of the golf course includes the greatly altered remnants of what is reputed to be the oldest house of San Diego Pueblo, built perhaps as early as 1824 by Don Francisco Maria Ruiz."
