Overview
The Scottish engineer James Colman (1832-1906) erected this wharf on Seattle's waterfront in 1882. It burned in Seattle's enormous fire of 06/06/1889, but was rebuilt soon thereafter, becoming one of the city's most prominent ports of entry.
Demolition
Colman Dock was consumed along with about 100 acres of Seattle's central business district, causing damage estimated at $20 million.
