Overview

Prior to 1925, various smaller fish canneries, sawmills and shingle mills had located in Anacortes, WA, but in that year, the Coos Bay Pulp Corporation located a large, mechanized wood pulp processing plant in the city. In 1939, Anacortes Veneer, Incorporated, built another large manufacturing facility here, expanding the city's work force.
