The J.C. Penney Store at Northgate Shopping Mall carried the store number 475.

Building History

The J.C. Penney Company Department Store was opened in the Fall of 1965. An article in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer said: “Promotion of R.W. Reinholt, formerly manager at Aurora Village, to manager of the J.C. Penney Co. department store at Northgate was announced yesterday. Reinholt, a native of Bellingham, is a graduate of the University of Washington. He joined the firm in 1948 as a sales associate in downtown Seattle. He lives in Edmonds. The Northgate store is schedule to open in early fall.” (See “Penney Names Manager for Northgate Store,” Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 04/04/1965, p. 62.)

The store closed its operations at Northgate Mall on 05/03/2019, as the shopping center transitioned to become a training space for the Seattle Kraken, a National Hockey League team.
