Overview

The Majestic Hotel operated on the northwest corner of Sutter and Gough Streets in San Francisco's Western Addition neighborhood from at least 1903 until 1907. The San Francisco County Assessor indicated that the current building at 1500 Gough Street was erected in 1905. The Majestic Hotel, however, was listed in the 1903 and 1904 city directories as operating at Sutter and Gough. (See San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1903, p. 1171 and San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1904, p. 1183.) It is likely that the Majestic Hotel opened in either 1902 or 1903.

After the San Francisco Earthquake and Fire of 04/18/1906, the Majestic Hotel built an Annex at 1528 Sutter Street. (See San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1907, p. 1033.)
