Overview

The Sacramento Daily Union newspaper indicated in two issues during 1857, that August F. Eisen was owed money for his superintendence work on the Sacramento Fire Department Engine House #5. (See "Common Council" Sacramento Daily Union, vol. 13, no. 1887, 04/14/1857, p. 3 "Bills of A.F. Eisen and C.C. Eisen, for the erection of house of Engine Co. No. 5, and extra work thereon. Referred to Committee on Fire and Water." See also "Common Council," Sacramento Daily Union, vol. 13, no. 1917, 05/19/1857, p. 2.) According to the second article, he was paid $100 for his work.
