Overview

In his biography published in the 1913 book, Who's Who in the Pacific Southwest: A Compilation of Biographical Sketches of Citizens of Southern California and Arizona,Eugene H. MacGibbon indicated that the MacGibbon-Frary Company was responsible for the design of the Marine Hotel. The owner was G. M. Jones. (See Who's Who in the Pacific Southwest: A Compilation of Biographical Sketches of Citizens of Southern California and Arizona, [Los Angeles: Times-Mirror Printing and Binding House, 1913], p. 235.) A note in the American Architect and Building News stated: "A permit for the marine hotel, a concrete building of four stories, has been applied for and will be issued at once. Its cost is given at $100,000. G.M. Jones is the owner of the property." (See "Building News: California," American Architect and Building News,vol. CII, no. 1950, 05/07/1913, p. 8.)
