Overview

The French Savings and Loan Society operated in San Francisco, CA, c. 1878 at 411 Bush Street. Its presence indicated the large number of French transplants who called San Francisco home in the later nineteenth century. A high concentration of French merchants operated here, responding to the affluent city's demand for fashionable French goods, particularly in apparel.
