Overview

The Security State and Savings Bank opened in 1891 and first operated next door to the 1st National Bank of San Jose, that occupied the southwest corner of 1st Street and East Santa Clara Street. The bank moved to a second location on East Santa Clara Street between 1st and 2nd Streets in 1900, shortly after W.S. Richards assumed ownership of the institution.
