The Crocker-Langley San Francisco City Directory indicated that John D. Spreckels lived at 2504 Howard Street in San Francisco, CA, in 1899. (See the Crocker-Langley San Francisco City Directory, 1899, p. 1618.) It was a two-story Italianate residence as depicted in Britton and Rey's book Artistic Homes of California, (San Francisco: F. Marriott, Publisher, [1888].)
