Overview
The Bank of San Jose, founded in 02/01/1868 by William J. Knox and T. Ellard Beans, moved to this address in 1872 into the Bank of San Jose Building #1. The Bank of San Jose Building #1 stood on the northeast corner of 1st and Santa Clara Streets until it sustained significant damage in the San Francisco Earthquake of 04/18/1906. It was torn down and replaced by this five-story highrise with a corner tower.
