Overview

Designed by the productive Reid Brothers architectural firm, the Merritt Building was a mid-block office tower containing 6 stories, 62 rooms, and 18 bathrooms. The San Francisco County Assessor's Office indicated that it was built in 1904, although other sources place its date as 1907. It is likely that it was first erected in 1904, damaged in the 1906 Earthquake and rebuilt in 1907.
