Building History

Olympia architect Joseph Wohleb (1887-1958) designed this house for Frederick W. (born c. 1889 in MT) and Elsie Schmidt (born c. 1887 in NJ), and their two children, Frederick (born c. 1917 in OR) and Constance (born c. 1918 in OR). In 1940, Schmidt was the Purchasing Agent for the Olympia Brewing Company, a business begun by his father, Frederick L. Schmidt (1846-1914). Wohleb did a considerable amount of work for F.L. Schmidt, his family and his businesses.
