Overview
The San Francisco architectural firm of Meyers and Ward designed the Stockton Savings and Loan Society Bank Building, the city's first high-rise office tower. It stood in the heart of the city's business district, next to the Yosemite Theatre Building at 22 North San Joaquin Street and to the city's second skyscraper, the Commercial and Savings Bank Building at 343 East Main Street. Kitty corner from the Stockton Savings and Loan Building was the California Building, a fine example of Beaux-Arts revivalism in Downtown Stockton at 11 South San Joaquin Street.
