Building Notes
This symmetrical design by William H. Crim, had a mixture of Beaux-Arts and Mission Revival Style features. The front facade had a eight-bay scheme, with two projecting bell towers punctuating the second and seventh bays. Separating each of the central four bays, were pairs of engaged columns, a favorite motif of Beaux-Arts designers, that formed a colonnade. The Classical balustrade placed at the eaves also suggested Beaux-Arts sources. The tops of the bell towers, a familiar Mission Revival feature for city buildings in CA, had scalloped Baroque openings. Crim placed a hipped metal roof over the building, moving away from Mission Style red tile.
