In 1860, Simon H. Seymour managed the American Exchange Hotel, which operated across from the American Theatre in San Francisco. (See "American Exchange Advertisement," California Farmer and Journal of Useful Sciences, vol. 13, no. 18, 06/22/1860, p. 141.)

The American Exchange Hotel operated at 319-323 Sansome Street in 1878; its manager was Thomas Bryan. (See the San Francisco City Directory of 1878, p. 984.)
