Overview
In 1957, the Canadian Bank of Commerce maintained its Seattle branch at 2nd Avenue and Cherry Street. At this time, the bank indicated that it had over 700 branches across Canada with offices in the US, England and the British West Indies. Banker and philanthropist William McMaster (1811-1887) co-founded the Canadian Bank of Commerce on 07/01/1867 in Toronto, ON; he also donated heavily to several institutions, including McMaster University in Hamitlon, ON, named for him in 1887.
