Overview

This Chrysler Corporation production plant began operations in 1932, and continued producing cars until 1971. According to one source, the sprawling plant exerted a huge economic impact on the City of Commerce: "By 1965, the plant, took up 86 acres and was making 57 cars per hour, nearly one per minute. 2,100 employees worked in the plant itself, and $14 million went to 75 local companies."
