Overview

Architect Samuel Tilden Norton (1877-1959) produced the design for this 2-floor garage of which the first floor would house vehicles and the second the chauffeur. The Southwest Contractor and Manufacturer noted in its 10/01/1910 issue: "Garage--Archt. S. Tilden Norton, 316 Byrne Bldg., has prepared plans for a private garage to be built at 2638 Van Buren Place for J. Lipman. Concrete foundation, 16x20 ft., two stories rustic exterior, shingle roof, cement ground floor, plumbing, electric wiring. Quarters for chaffeur will be fitted up on the second floor. J.
