Overview

Nearby to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetary, the Rancho Aptos landowner Rafael de Jesus Castro (1803–1878) donated acreage in 1867 on which to place a new chapel, which operated as a subsidiary mission church of the Holy Cross and later Saint Joseph Churches in Santa Cruz.
