Architect B.W. Morris designed this skyscraper for the San Francisco-based Wells Fargo and Company Bank.
Morris's design resembled many skyscrapers built from the 1890s-1910s; architects often used Italian Renaissance palazzi as models, often using tall, two-floor, arched openings cut into a rusticated base, with an elongated shaft composed of offices, and a pronounced cornice topping off the composition.
