The architectural firm of Grant, Copeland and Chervenak, who made something of a specialty designing churches, designed this house of worship for the Saint Michael's and All Angels' flock in 1957. The building's spreading, shallowly-pitched gable roof recalled earlier church and residential designs by the Portland architect Pietro Belluschi and Seattle's Paul Hayden Kirk.
