In an article of 07/19/1903, the Los Angeles Times noted of this large YMCA building: "The Young Men's Christian Association building, on the west side of Broadway, one lot south of Second street, which is now owned by the Merchants' Trust Company, is to be converted into a nine-story office building, under the supervision of Architects Dennis & Farwell.
