This second school, serving 27 elementary and high school pupils, opened in 09/1887; citizens of Alhambra agreed to a $10,000 bond issue to finance the new two-story, four-room facility; Of this amount, $175 went for the purchase of a land parcel at North Garfield Avenue and North Alhambra Road.
