The building contractors, J. Vaughn and Sons, designed and built two bungalows, each with separate garages, at 1202 and 1206 North 9th Street in Tacoma's North End. Architect Edward A. Hatherton owned a capacious, Craftsman residence next door at 1210 North 9th Street, built over 20 years previous.
