In 03/1956, four brick apartment buildings in the 5600 block of University Way NE, erected and owned by Evergreen Associates, sold for $316,000. Each containing 12 units, they were designed by Samuel G. Morrison, Architect, of Seattle. Each building had its own laundry and storage rooms in the rear on its east side. When new in 1956, apartments in the four buildings had hardwood floors, hardwood panelling and featured electric heat. The cluster of identical units were built on speculation and sold to different owners. One of the four buildings had a "deluxe apartment for the owner." Building #2 was sold to Richard F. Whiting for $78,000, building #4 to Mrs. Josephine Remington for $80,000. Building #2 sold for $78,500. (See "Five Apartment-House Sales Total Nearly $500,000," Seattle Times, 03/04/1956, p. 64.)
