This Santa Anita Depot was built on the ranch of rancher/real estate investor Elias "Lucky" Baldwin (1828-1909) in 1890.

This depot had a tri-partite plan, with a two-story central portion surrounded on two sides by one-story wings. The two-story section had a jerkinhead gable roof, while the lower wings had compound hipped roofs. A balcony projected from the second story, providing the station master views of oncoming trains.

Citizens of Arcadia, CA, Los Angeles County and the Calfiornia Arboretum Foundation, Incorporated, donated funds to move and renovate the Santa Fe Depot on Lucky Baldwin's estate.
