The University of Redlands's Hall of Science was renamed Duke Hall to honor Victor Leroy Duke (1874-1933), a graduate of the Baptist Shurtleff College in Alton, IL, who relocated to Redlands to become a Professor of Mathematics and Treasurer. He would later become elevated to Dean and, eventually, the second President of the University of Redlands.
