Land was acquired for a new church to serve the Holy Family Parish Catholic congregation in 1906. Funds to erect the church were raised and the building completed four years later. The first service staged for 75 families occurred in a cottage church on 05/10/1910. A larger "bungalow church" was built by the congregation in 08/1910, becoming the Holy Family Catholic Church #2.

In 1910, the parish boundaries "...were Columbia Ave. to the north, Alhambra Rd., to the south, Garfield Ave. to the east and Arroyo Dr. to the west." (See "History of Holy Family,"Accessed 01/21/2014.)
