The Brewer Family relocated to Seattle from Walla Walla, WA, c. 1890. They bought 40 acres in their new home and sub-divided it, hoping to make money on their investment. They anchored their new plat, building a two-story Queen Anne residence on the southeast corner of Columbia Street and 21st Avenue. The Brewers lived here for about a decade, their fortunes deflated by a economic downturn that lingered in Seattle between 1893-1897, before returning to Walla Walla.
The Brewer House occupied a 7,200-square-foot (.17 acre) lot.
As Paul Dorpat has written, this house was renovated by Raymond and Zia Hachiya, who found the two-story house a shambles in 1985. It has been abandoned for four years and required full restoration. The King County Department of Assessments indicated that the house's renovation dated to 1986. (The Assessor's record also stated that the house had been built in 1900, although this was incorrect.) In 2013, this residence contained three bedrooms and had one full bath and one half-bath.
