Architect Ellis Jacobs remodeled his house c. 1952 to allow a long visual axis to extend from the kitchen into a children's playroom. This design allowing supervision of young children from long range was featured in the 02/1953 issue of Sunset magazine. (See "Easy on child and parent alike," Sunset, vol 110 no. 2, 02/1953, p. 49.)
