An article in the Seattle Times of 05/28/1908 stated: "The apartment house shown herewith will be erected for Mrs. L. D. Vandell and Miss L.M. Gregory on the south side of Madison Street, near Thirty-third Avenue. The structure will be concrete throughout and will contain twenty-eight three- and four-room apartments and will have frontage of 110 feet on Madison Street and extend through the entire block to Thirty-third Avenue. Billiard and recreation rooms are located on the ground floor of the Madison Street side. A ballroom and a sun parlor are arranged in connection with the roof garden, and from, them an unobstructed view of Lake Washington and the mountains is obtained. Two electric elevators will be installed on the Madison Street side of the building. The plans were drawn by C. Lewis Wilson & Co., architects. The Adkison Construction Company have made preparations to put a large force of men at work as soon as ground is broken for foundation. The building will cost approximately $60,000."
