The Portland architectural firm, Sutton and Whitney, produced the design for this large office building, a significant investment by this local Masonic Chapter. At this time, Hoquiam experienced great prosperity as a logging center, and the scale of this building suggested the town's financial resources.

This mixed-use building contained three stories as built, with commercial storefronts lining the first to provide rental income for the chapter. Offices (adding further rental income) and Masonic meeting spaces occupied the upper two floors.
