Building History
The ealry years of the Depression affected many movie theatres across the US, forcing many to either close or change hands. The Washoe Theatre, an Art Deco work by the talented Seattle architect B. Marcus Priteca (1889-1971), it was built in the mid-1930s at a time that the American economy was beginning to rebound from its earlier depths.
Building Notes
According to historian David Naylor, the Washoe Theatre, designed by the noted theatre architect B. Marcus Priteca (1889-1971) was erected in 1936, and seated 1,000 patrons.
The exterior of the Washoe Theatre's auditorium demonstrated outstanding, complex brickwork.
