The Mart Building was remodeled at a cost of $100,000 in 1953. It sold in 11/1956, according to the Seattle Times: "It was held for $175,000 by the owner, the 8th & Virginia Corporation. The building has been a center for manufacturers' representatives and wholesalers. Two principal tenants are M. Genauer & Co., and the Arthur Herschman Co. A 60-by-120-foot parking lot adjoins the building and was included in the sale." The buyer was the Seattle-based Queen Investment Company. (See "Mart Building Bought for Investment," Seattle Times, 11/04/1956, p. 8.)
