Allan Greenberg, a revivalistic South African-born architect catering to super-rich clients, designed this out-of-place Colonial Revival Style house for financier Tully Friedman in 2005. In 2013, Greenberg operated offices in Alexandria, VA, New Haven, CT, and New York, NY; his country houses all featured unabashedly Neoclassical detailing. Occupying nine acres, this dreary 8,500-square-foot mansion sold in 01/2013 for a ridiculous $117.5 million, the second highest price up to that time for a private residence.
