Originally housing offices and warehouse of the Reid-Murdoch Company, a food processing concern, the City of Chicago bought the building in 1955. Chicago used it as office space for the City Attorney and other civic departments.
Alternate address: 325 North LaSalle Drive. The brick building's main portion contained seven stories with a 3-story clock tower protruding in the center.
When North La Salle Drive was widened in 1926, one bay on the building's west side was sheared off; this made a previously symmetrical design, slightly asymmetrical.
