Building History
The Pasadena firm of Marston and Van Pelt designed this Y-shaped residence for a lawyer, H. Newby. On the first floor, a living room and den occupied on diagonal wing of the Y, while a dining room, breakfast room and pantry occupied the opposite wing. The short central stem contained a servant's room, porch, and kitchen. The house had a canted plan to take advantage of nearby views.
